2. One of the goals of the new web site will be the ability to change design and make changes timely and easily.  What additions would you like to see?

I would like to see the Student web access to be more prominant.
 (11%)

ability of faculty of edit their own pages, and the need to keep faculty information (publications, etc.) up to date.

 1) A helpful change might be to list the numbers along with the word SEMINARY for out 800 number on the first page. If someone is using a Blackberry or Treo the current setup adds at least one step to the process because the letter number set-up is different than a regular phone key pad. 2) on the Info and Events page it would be helpful to use the language of Current Events and New Information. Currently the user must assume that News Releases are about the current events. It is not intuititive. It might also be good to have a link to the Calendar of Events on this page near the top.

Assured cross-referencing of content - e.g., degree requirements between admissions and degree program descriptions. Less dependence on Cheri Peluso-Verdend. Auto update from Jenzabar to directories, as on campusweb.
 (11%)

I would like to see the directories saved each year, so that I could choose for example, 2005, or 2007 and I could get a photo directory of who was at the seminary at that time. With the old printed picture directories, i was able to keep a historical record of who was at the seminary year by year. Now that the directory is on line, it would be nice to be able to access the directories year by year by year.

I currently do not put job info on website because it takes too long to get it up and then down. I don't see this as a big deal because I prefer targeted recruiting anyway, but others do.

I have heard that there are ways that whenever a photo is posted to a site by anyone, the software can pull that wihtout human intervention.

A more presentable and obvious way for prospective students to do three things: apply online, inquiry for more information and be offered and opportunity to come for a campus visit.

4. If your answer is no, then what categories would you like to see on the new home page?

The basic categories work, but you have to work too hard to find things within the categories
 (25%)

Info and Events needs to be separated: upcoming events highlighted, maybe a link on the front page. Then kept up to date. Info should then be better described. Staff directory is lost here. List more pages on home page menu.
 (25%)

Under the above scenario, it is not intuitively obvious where to look for Housing info.
 (25%)

Change Adacemics to "Education" -- especially as we add lay and online educational opportunities. Podcasts should be buried throughout, not have their own gateway. We need a gateway for "churches". The term "student life" is misleading. As we move to lay education, etc, change "admissions" to "Prospective Students".

5. What is hard to find on our current website?

 Staff and Administrator contact information.
 (13%)

The fact that the library and campus web are buried at the bottom of the page. Need better integration of the sites It doesn't make any sense that the links within the degree programs take us to the graduation requirement grids. These explain nothing to a visitor! There's no clear way to search the site.
 (13%)

It is currently difficult to find out what is going on in the life of the seminary if a user does not have access tot he campusweb. A visitor is not able to currently get a sense of the events int eh on-going life of the seminary.

Staff directory Upcoming events - timely Return to home page

 Housing chapel (rental ) information
 (13%)

Virtually everything the search engine box is about useless. The library is buried and/or the link in the footer is not obvious.
 (13%)

Financial information. Admission page information should be restructured.
 (13%)

Sometimes the requirements for different programs are buried to many pages down or are listed in multiple pages. It would be nice to make sure that we consistently link to the correct pages each time rather than one set of information from one apge and then going a different route gets to a different page with different info. It is also difficult for a propective student to discover what programs we offer - if you click on admissions there is nothing that obviously tells you what programs we have; you would have to either click on apply or click on degree requirements to discover further information.

7. Any general comments?

We need more photos under each section. I like how Cornell does featured items even under academics not just the home page. It is not just scrolling text.

Thanks for being attentive to the "face" of our community on the web.
 (14%)

I'm not sure Centers deserve a top-level listing. Button below would suffice. They're described in a different way under student life. Home page is not lively, despite scrolling pix. Credit card-like elements look very static.

Keep up the good work. I am always interested in what goes on at Garrett-Evangelical; thanks, Al Caldwell

Website should have a spider to fix broken links and have some sort of data tracker to figure out who is using it, when and how. That way the site can be modified to meet the traffice needs AND can use the data to target advertising campaigns, etc. There are a ton of products out there. I just surfted randomly to: http://www.opentracker.net/index.jsp

 Thanks for your work.

Overall I like the layout. It seems simple and more or less intuitive, at least for current students. I am not sure we are effectively sharing information with those ot already part of our community.
