2. Compared to CAMS, what are the features and functionalities of Jenzabar's JICS that you particularly DISLIKED?

I was not quite certain if they had built-in course management functionality (like Blackboard). I was also disappointed that they did not have an embedded room scheduler. I don't like that everything is piecemeal.
 (20%)

That we do not purchase enough modules or features to truly interface our work.

I do not like that JICS will not allow for a customized log in to be established. Our alums might be more motivated to use JICS if they could remember their ID. It is also worth noting that with our current EXWeb the alums section receives little to no address updates or online gifts thru EXWeb. Rather alums just email us directly or make their gift online w/o logging into the system.

3. Compared to CAMS, what are the features and functionalities of Jenzabar's JICS  that you particularly LIKED?

I like that we would not have to go through a software conversion, learn a new product, or write new reports. I like that advisers are assumed to be the ones approving registrations. I like the easy customisability that does not require changing the HTML or invalidate future upgrades.

Integration with Business Office, registrar and, hopefully housing and hospitality.

I fits with what we have.

In many ways it appeared that both CAMS and JICS offered the same 'web' features. The one significant difference is it appeared there is greater options and/or controls with JICS - in particular for the Registrars Office.

4. What would you see as the greatest benefits of implementing Jenzabar's JICS at Garrett?

We would not have to go through a software conversion, learn a new product, or write new reports.
 (20%)

Most users familiar with product. Reports are already in Infomaker Is more robust and complex than CAMS
 (20%)

more power available to some departments that could use it now; more options for the future
 (20%)

We could disconnect with Cheri Verdend.
 (20%)

Any time we can streamline our software I would suggest is a move in the right direction. Having full support, once again, from Jenzabar after updates and installation of JICS would also be most appreciated.

5. What would you see as the greatest impediments to implementing Jenzabar's JICS at Garrett?

COST and the fact that we do not currently have all of the EX modules, so some functionality would be impeded. The lack of training our offices currently have.

Lack of proper training for all users

I can only assume the greatest impediment would be the cost. However, I would once again suggest that a integrated service with all modules would only enhance the work of each user and departments.

6. Any other comments?

I like that CAMS is a fully integrated all-in-one product with no separate modules to purchase. However, considering the amount of work that goes into a software conversion and the fact that many of our offices are not currently familiar enough with their modules to be able to sufficiently convert the data, we are probably better off with staying with our current database, purchasing the modules we are currently lacking so that we are all connected and able to do what we need to do, and then actually training everyone on their modules.
 (25%)

in any event, training will be important to any future changes. we are far behind on that.
 (25%)

The disruption to the seminary to change to a new system is not to be underestimated. With the appropriate training our staff could get more out of Jenzabar. Especially if we add the student module and additional business module.
 (25%)

MOST IMPORTANTLY, the thought of having to migrate our data to a new system and rewrite the hundreds of reports we use in any given year is very troublesome. This is truly my greatest concern for the Development Office - in particular as we are in the midst of a capital campaign.
